Warning to all smokers in Metro Manila




Metropolitan Manila Development Authority or MMDA started to give warning to all smokers in public places of Metro Manila before it will be implemented on July 2011.



Penalty of violating the smoking ban will be Php 500 for first offense,  Php 1000 up to Php 5000 for second offense and up to Php 10,000 for third offense or  community service for those who cannot afford to pay the penalty.


According to Republic Act 9211 or Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, it is prohibited to smoke on public places such as sidewalk, streets, schools, hospitals, public  transportation vehicles, and government offices.
