Andres Bonifacio

Andres Bonifacio was born in Tondo, Manila to Santiago Bonifacio and Catalina de Castro on November 30, 1863. He was married to Monica who later died of leprosy. Bonifacio then met Gregoria de Jesus of Caloocan and immediately fell in love and married her. They had a son named Andres but died after two months after contracting small fox.

Andres Bonifacio was a Revolutionary leader and patriot, known as the "Father of the Philippine Revolution." He was the leader or supremo of the KKK or Kataastaasan Kagalanggalang na Katipunan ng mga anak ng Bayan. Bonifacio was part of the Tejeros Convention which formed a Revolutionary Government where Emilio Aguinaldo was elected president while Bonifacio was elected as Secretary of the Interior.

Daniel Tirona protested the former's election, saying that an educated man was unfit for the position and suggested lawyer Jose del Rosario for the position. In anger, Bonifacio drew his revolver and aimed it at Tirona. Cooler heads prevailed but in disgust, Bonifacio, as the supremo of the Katipunan, declared the proceedings and elections in Tejeros to be invalid.

Bonifacio and his group drew up a document invalidating the Tejeros proceedings and declared a separate government from the one established at Tejeros. Aguinaldo saw the actions of Bonifacio as fatal to the unity of the Filipino revolutionaries and ordered the arrest of the supremo.

A military court was convened in Maragondon, Cavite where Bonifacio and his brother Procopio were charged with sedition and treason against the revolutionary government of Aguinaldo. The court sentenced the Bonifacio brothers to death. Andres and Procopio Bonifacio were shot and buried in Mount Buntis on May 10,1897.
